The Lagos State National Youth Service Corp Coordinator, Mr. Eddy Megwa on Tuesday October 6, paid a courtesy visit to Sidmach Technologies, along with 2 other state officials. The purpose of the visit was to appreciate the organization for the excellent support services provided to NYSC Lagos in optimizing management of Corp members in the state.
According to Mr. Megwa, the Lagos state NYSC team was able to respond swiftly to the Covid-19 pandemic as a result of the Integrated Systems provided by Sidmach Technologies, which helped in dispatching Corps Members to their respective places of assignments within 12 hours of the outbreak.
Speaking about the experience, he mentioned that camping activities had barely lasted for 8 days when he received the order to shut down the camp. His team was aided by the technology facility and support from the Sidmach team which ensured that all Corps members were given a primary place of assignment and out of the camp before 2pm of that day.

On how NYSC has fared in the period of the pandemic, he mentioned that the Scheme has fared very well, playing a crucial role in easing the effect of the pandemic in more than 21 local government areas of Lagos State, by distributing palliatives to the needy; an exercise that heavily involved corps members who made voluntarily contributions from their allowances.
Furthermore, he expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu for the crucial role he played in helping the scheme cope with the pandemic by paying corps members allowances as and when due. He also stated the Governor’s promise to move the orientation camp to a permanent site in Agbowa, Ikorodu. Construction of the site is set to begin in 2021.

Mr. Eddy Megwa also acknowledged the large portfolio he has had to handle since his transfer to Lagos from Cross River State. From handling an average of 6000 corps members in Cross River State, he has had to deal with three times that size in Lagos. He once again paid tribute to the support Sidmach has provided to make things easy through the Integrated Systems Solution for Corps Members Management.
In response, Sidmach’s Managing Director, Chijioke Eke commended the State Coordinator’s efforts in managing Corps Members across Lagos State. Along with other Sidmach Executive Directors seated, he further restated the company commitment to NYSC.
“Sidmach is a partner in progress with NYSC. We will continue to work together to make this scheme maintain its relevance in helping us achieve national unity.” Eke remarked.
